Online rescue learning

The months of February and March began a big change for educators in the United States, whether they're ready or not.

State by state, schools and universities have started sending their students home and closing their doors. Students and teachers faced a future of uncertainty when the government tried to keep people calm. A major pandemic has prompted the entire education profession to quickly switch to online learning methods and methods of delivering webinar content.

As you can imagine, professional training and certification programs are quickly integrated into the world of online learning. Now is the perfect time to understand the different types of online learning programs and how you can use them effectively in your company.

Let us agree that the most important resource that we all have is time. In other words, we don't have much because we all have to do more with less in today's world. What if you had assigned to your second most important resource that time, not your second most important resource: people? There are several answers to this question. Here are a few things to consider:

  • More responsibility
  • Increased fluctuation
  • Increased damage to assets.
  • Increased productivity costs.

This list can be very long. Therefore, it is imperative that you take the time now to ensure that your team is well trained and certified in the programs that will make your business successful.

After creating a foundation for reason, we need to identify some tips and tricks that will help you understand the world of online learning as we know it today and what you can expect in the future.

Webinars

Webinars are webinars or sessions that are created and conducted over the Internet. Webinars can be hosted by a single moderator or multiple moderators. Webinars found their place in the workplace in the late 1990s and have since become one of the most popular ways to make content available to educators around the world. Webinars are often confused with online courses, but they are just online learning opportunities. We'll explain the differences later in this article.

Advantages:

  • You can host thousands of people in a single webinar while reaching a large number of people.
  • You can publish a visual representation of content while a person is speaking.
  • Many viewers appreciate a raw user experience that shows the authenticity and vulnerability of the speaker.

The disadvantages:

  • Webinars should speak to people because they don't offer a solid interactive experience.
  • A professional webinar requires a lot of preparation time and a quiet space to offer the audience the experience.
  • Instant interaction is difficult.

Tips:

  • Keep webinars extremely short and to the point. Remove any "fluff" or unnecessary content that is not relevant to the viewer's task. Remember that time is your most valuable resource.
  • Always reward your employees for attending webinars with training points and measure their success. Adults like to be competitive and show their work.

Asynchronous online courses

As more companies turn to online learning, asynchronous online courses are very popular. These recorded and pre-defined courses are self-taught so that the student can follow the course for the time set by an employer.

Advantages:

  • Employers can manage their team's learning experience through a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Learning can be easily controlled through data through quality controls within the institution or organization. When you spot trends in the performance of your workforce, you can focus on getting to know these issues.
  • Classes can include interactive user experiences, including quizzes, knowledge reviews, clicks and swipes, and videos.

The disadvantages:

  • Creating a course takes time and can cost an enormous amount depending on the complexity of the course.
  • You should have access to subject matter experts who can work together to create the course.

Tips:

  • Consider micro and macro learning experiences for your lessons. The service areas are short, so you shouldn't overload your employees.
  • Place your courses on a preventive maintenance program to ensure that all of your content is updated consistently and meets learning standards.

Synchronous online courses

Synchronous courses are an online learning style in which the instructor lives with students on the same platform. It is very interactive and allows participants to ask questions or even perform performance based tests. This type of online learning combined with asynchronous courses is a great way to succeed with professional development programs.

Advantages:

  • The courses provide an improved user experience and enable people to use technology in a social environment.
  • Instructors can display all "practical" tasks that must be completed to obtain certification or credentials.

The disadvantages:

  • Students must meet on the platform at a certain time and cannot learn at their own pace.
  • Since it is not possible to perfect a presentation by recording it, this can lead to fears if the speaker is not prepared.

Tips:

  • Mix asynchronous and synchronous courses. The more interaction and proof of concept in all professional skills, the better.
  • Buy high-end devices and confirm that you have a strong internet connection that will not be affected during your session.

What will we see tomorrow?

After the pandemic subsides and people regain confidence in their daily routines, personal training will return when people thirst for physical workshops and seminars. The new reality is that online learning has changed the game forever. Any company or individual can find content online for free, but must confirm that they can trust the source and that the quality of the content is high.

In the future, the online learning landscape will become more dynamic and competitive in both education and professional studies. The cost of buying online courses may decrease. In higher education we already see strong competition from universities and falling prices. You have to stand out from the competition.

Tips:

  • Work with e-learning providers who provide globally recognized certifications and credentials.
  • Work with e-learning providers who understand your specific business needs and can design your online portal as needed.

There is a technology that enables your employees to access e-learning on their cell phone while they are working by simply clicking on a preceding label. This app monitors the work done, identifies whether you are certified, and provides the latest training / protocols you need. We are developing into an extremely data-driven industry and are developing much faster than ever.
