So raw, but so good: how to take off clothes

If you want to see how dirty your clothes, sheets, and towels are, take off your clothes. This is an alarming, but very satisfying, cleaning trend that has gone viral and is worth discussing. The process takes a long time, but since we seem to have more free time than usual at the moment, we decided to try the clothes on. Let's start with the basics.

Clothing stripping is about removing accumulated dirt and odor from your everyday fabrics. The idea is to soak towels, white sheets and undershirts for workout clothes in water with a strong mixture of borax and soda carbonate for a long period of time and clean them really thoroughly. (without baking powder) and powder detergent. This combination releases detergent residue ("natural" and homemade are the worst culprit of all), fabric softener, minerals from hard water, bacteria, body oils, and dirt that has built up on the skin. washed over time. It is also said to give off smelly smells that are difficult to control.

"It is considered 'good' as all of the dirt removed can turn the water brown or gray."

How to test this cleaning trend yourself.

Advice and for your information

  • This is for a thorough cleaning from time to time for bed linen, bedclothes, and some commonly used items. Many people recommend it once a month.
  • Be careful with the colors as they sometimes flow. "Removing clothing is not always ideal for clothing as it can cause the dye to drip. You may want to stick to white bath towels and bed linen, "says Dr. Mullans. "When trying the method on colored clothing, avoid mixing a red shirt with white socks as you could accidentally end up with colored clothing.
  • This method requires hot water. So check the care label on each item first.
  • Save it for used items that you wash regularly, NOT delicate items.
  • Regular laundry detergents and fabric softeners are designed to leave a residue on your clothes, believe it or not. They contain brighteners and optical conditioners that coat fabrics to make them "whiter than white" or "comfortable" ... ew! Even if your clothes have only been washed with regular detergents and fabric softeners, you will likely benefit from a good stripping from time to time.

Once you've tried this yourself we're pretty sure that the cloudy water that remains will be just as satisfactory and that your stripped off clothes will feel and smell fresher than ever before. Try it out and let us know how to do it. Thank you for the competent advice, Dr. Mullans.
