Clean up the mess
Before you even start cleaning, go through each room and clean up the mess.
When collecting all items, be they magazines or used books, consider carefully whether to save, throw away, or donate them.
Dust and vacuum
Focus dust on furniture and shelves, handrails, picture frames, and television screens.
In hard to reach places like blinds and top shelves, tie a microfiber cloth to the end of a mop or broom and don't forget to change sheets before vacuuming.
