TikTok user Kate shared the hack on her my_plastic_free_home account, which went viral with over 80,000 views.

Kate often shares eco hacks that work on her account and this one is no different.

She says she only needs this one product, sodium percarbonate, or as Kate likes to call it "natural bleach," to keep her whites bright.

Sodium percarbonate is slightly different from baking soda because it contains hydrogen peroxide, a natural bleaching agent.

Kate first throws her dirty white clothes into a sink and adds 60 grams of sodium percarbonate.

Then pour five liters of boiling water and leave to soak for a few hours before rinsing in the washing machine.

Kate also says you can add 30 grams of sodium percarbonate to your wash for faster results.

For best results, Kate recommends getting them out in the sun.

He also said it can be used for a variety of things around the home, such as descaling, cleaning toilet bowls, removing stains from burnt cups and pans.

Many users loved Kate's trick and the fact that it's more environmentally friendly than buying stain removers. One wrote: "Thank you! I've tried going green but it can be difficult with chronic conditions so it's perfect."

"It really is the best! My moms have been using it for years and it has saved my kids' clothes." Another user commented.

A third user joked, "I'll order some, thanks! May I ask what you do when you don't have sunlight available? Ask from Manchester."

Though some may confuse it with baking soda, it contains another cleansing ingredient that's perfect for bringing whites back to shine.
