Drying jeans indoors isn't always easy, especially if you don't have a lot of space or the weather isn't great. But a cleaning expert shared a tip on Instagram that will help you put more clothes on your clothesline and dry your jeans faster.
the shovel
Cleaning product developer Lindsay (@dazzlincleaning) shared a video showing an easy way to save space when drying jeans indoors. Instead of placing them on a rack, fold them in half and loop the legs over the bars, which will help them dry better and leave room for more clothes.
"I saw @beckiesbitofsparkle show this for the first time and I was blown away! What great advice and thanks for pointing this out, Beck ! I won't look back now," she wrote in the caption.
Not only does this method avoid dirt that slows drying, but it also allows for better air circulation, which can help reduce the risk of musty smells.
as help
This simple trick saves space, making it ideal for people with limited drying space, such as those who live in an apartment or don't have a dryer. It also helps jeans dry more evenly, reducing drying time and minimizing wrinkles, meaning less ironing afterwards.
This tip is also good for the environment. According to the Department of Energy, clothes dryers are among the largest energy consumers in homes. Air drying is therefore an easy way to save electricity and reduce energy costs. Additionally, skipping the dryer helps reduce dirty energy consumption, making it a more environmentally friendly cleaning option .
Additionally, air drying keeps jeans looking good for longer by preventing shrinkage and damage to the fabric from high heat.
What everyone says
Many users were excited to try it out, with one commenter saying, "Is this cool or should it be Jeanius?" Thanks for sharing."
Another shared: "I honestly thought everyone did this. My grandma taught me how to hang clothes on a clothesline when I was there in the summer."
One commenter raised concerns about mold and ventilation issues when drying clothes indoors: "The best advice is don't dry indoors unless you like mold." »
Lindsay replied that she uses a 20 liter dehumidifier to prevent moisture buildup. It's a good idea to use one when drying clothes inside or simply break a window to help air circulate and prevent moisture.
