In recent years, baking powder, also known as baking soda, has been used for more than just baking . It is often combined with white vinegar, but also works alone to clean various parts of the home without the use of harsh chemicals.

Sammy, lifestyle influencer and mother of three, regularly shares her best tips and tricks on how to keep your home clean with less effort.

In a TikTok video, she shared her top tips for using this 1-pound ingredient you probably already have at home to clean most rooms in your house.

"Seven baking soda tips to save money," Sammy said at the start of the video. She added in the video's caption, "If you don't use baking soda to clean, you're missing out! These baking soda hacks will save you money and that's a good thing, it's non-toxic!"

She then shared how to best use this inexpensive staple to get your home sparkling clean without spending a fortune on various products.

Ways to Use Baking Soda to Clean Your Home

1. Remove stubborn grease stains

Sammy started his video in the kitchen, where he showed how baking soda and dish soap can be used together to replace more expensive oven cleaners.

She first poured dish soap on the oven door, then covered it with baking soda and scrubbed it with a sponge.

"Hard grease is very easy to remove and best of all, it is non-toxic. Who needs expensive oven cleaners when you can achieve results like this?"

2. Make your sink shine

"To clean the sink, make a paste of dish soap and baking soda," she advised. "Not only will this abrasive paste make your sink shine, but it can also be used to clean almost anything in your home with fantastic results. Just scrub and rinse – look at that shine."

3. Keep your white clothes white

To wash clothes, Sammy suggested adding baking soda to the same drawer as detergent to keep white laundry bright.

4. Prevent bad smells

In the kitchen, she recommended placing a small bowl of baking soda in the refrigerator to mask and prevent any potential odors.

Sammy also sprinkles baking soda on smelly shoes or gym bags and recommends letting it sit for 24 hours before cleaning.

5. Lighten the mortar

She shared, "When tile grout lines need cleaning, baking soda with a little water works wonders." You'll be surprised at how bright it can make your bathroom!

6. Remove limescale

As she headed to her shower, she revealed: "[This tip] is my favorite. I can't stand soap scum and limescale deposits on the shower door. The best and easiest way to get rid of them is to first spray the jar with white vinegar and then spread baking soda on a sponge.

"Scrub it well and just rinse it with water. I'm telling you, your shower enclosure will shine like never before."
