Keeping the bathroom clean and tidy is an important task to master, but not always the easiest one.
This is especially true if you live in an area with hard water, as hardy mineral deposits called limescale can wreak havoc in your bathroom, especially the toilet.
Over time, these stains can build up, become difficult to remove, and leave the entire room looking dirty and unkempt.
Bleach doesn't always remove it, but it can cover up discoloration without removing limescale.
But luckily, there's a convenient and inexpensive alternative that works much better, and you probably already have it in your stash.
The tip was shared on TikTok by mother-of-three Sammy , who often shares helpful cleaning and organizing tips for busy families looking to stay on top of household chores.
She praised her toilet cleaning method as one of the cleaning tips "everyone" should know, and it couldn't be easier to implement.
So if you notice that the limescale in your toilet seems to be getting worse, all you need to solve this problem is a simple dishwashing tablet.
Put one of these handy tablets in the toilet, then add some warm water and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Next, take a brush and start scrubbing the limescale stains. You will notice that these disappear within seconds. When you're done scrubbing, flush the toilet as usual and it'll be sparkling clean again.
A pack of 40 dishwasher tabs from Asda costs £4, so each is just 10p, making it an extremely affordable and quick trick.
However, Sammy appeared to be using the boiling water from the kettle to follow the dishwasher tablet, which people were quick to advise against in the comments.
Some said it could break the toilet bowl's porcelain and lead to a costly repair.
To be on the safe side, it's best to use lukewarm water, but it's still enough to remove limescale stains and get your toilet looking new again.
