The Community Services Agency urges the public to take precautions when cleaning up after floods

WESLACO - Part of the Rio Grande Valley is still flooded, but for many others, the water has finally calmed down and people are now trying to rescue what they can.

If people do not do it right, they can become dangerous again.

The Weslaco-born Ray Yanez came from North Dakota this week without hesitation to help his daughter recover.

Yanez said they could not just wait for city or county authorities to turn up; They started cleaning on Wednesday.

The Hidalgo County Community Services Agency called for people to flood everything and wear gloves and a respirator while cleaning.

"If they want to do it themselves, they have to be very careful," said Jaime Longoria, director of the CSA.

Longoria Anyone with a cleanup test by FEMA and the website of the Environmental Protection Agency requests for consultation.
