Summer is here and all the excuses you have to not wash your car (and are there really legitimate ones?) Are gone. The sun is shining, the weather is pleasant and generally everyone is in a better mood. Take your car to the car wash!
This week I'm back in the Ask a Clean Person podcast by Jolie Kerr and Justin Westbrook. We discuss the best methods for cleaning the car, the frequency (often, duh!) And the magic of microfibre cloths.
There is a camp of people who think you should never wash your car. They say that "the rain washed it anyway". There is no soap in the rain, so the rain does not eliminate the excrement of birds, insects, juice or other stubborn dirt. This shit is sour and will eventually end up with your transparent cape. Once this clearcoat has disappeared, your car and the exposed film are at a higher risk of rusting, which can cost thousands of dollars on the road.
Even if you try to sell your car, clean it for photos! A clean car almost always brings more money than a dirty car. Just think about how to shop online. If the photo is attractive, you automatically feel better about what you are photographing. The same goes for cars.

And there are also some practical tips in the episode. A reader wrote to Kerr about the trash a car wash left in his car. She described it as "sticky, blurry and scary mess" and should disappear. But despite his efforts with the Turtle Wax Cleaner, a magical eraser, hot water and alcohol, the shit has not moved.
The three of us thought they might be wax remnants mixed with car soap. And to fight the wax, take the WD-40. The lubricant of life. Something in the WD-40 has the ability to remove waxy substances. However, if you do not have the WD-40 at hand, a drop of olive oil or any edible oil should be fine. Just make sure you then wash the oily area with car soap.
