"Our design team has always wanted to partner with Airstream," said Roland Heiler, managing director of Studio FA Porsche and design director of the Porsche Lifestyle Group, in a press release. "More than 20 years ago, when my family lived in Southern California, we owned a 1964 Airstream Overlander. That's when I met [Airstream CEO and Chairman] Bob Wheeler at an antique trailer show in Newport. beach To me, Airstream has always been such an iconic brand that has thrived by evolving their products while staying true to their design DNA, an approach very similar to Studio FA Porsche's philosophy.

The result? A sophisticated design that combines traditional Airstream features with unique elements to upgrade the trailer and broaden its appeal to reach a new generation of adventurers .

Building on the current popularity of the tailgate option on select Airstream touring trailers, the concept trailer's redesigned tailgate features a new two-piece design with an opening tailgate and a hinged tailgate. Canopies can be attached to the hatch to create a shaded "patio" for lounging.

The retractable roof is insulated, a first for Airstream trailers, and designed to reduce headroom. There is also the option to lower the trailer body thanks to the adjustable suspension on the chassis, making this a 'garage-ready' model, making Airstream ownership much easier for a wider range of customers.

Inside, the layout differs from other Airstream units. There is a versatile seating area that converts from a dining area to a work area to a relaxation area in an instant. When it's time to kick back, the area quickly converts from dining seating to a large 82" x 61" sleeping area. Additionally, reclining seating options allow owners to enjoy the view through the open hatch.

The wet room has a door that creates a private, enclosed space and swings freely to conceal the toilet when not in use. This clever design also adds more space to the trailer, ensuring owners can really get the most out of compact living .

"Innovation is the art of discovering the possible," said Bob Wheeler, President and CEO of Airstream. "Our collaboration with Studio FA Porsche has brought talented new eyes and minds to our never-ending process of improving the Airstream experience. This is a new design approach aimed at reaching a broader and more diverse base of potential customers."

The trailer premiered on March 10, 2023 at the South by Southwest® (SXSW) Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas. Visit Airstream.com for more information.
