Survey highlights spring cleaning trends - CleanLink

Do spring cleaning

Nearly three-quarters of Americans schedule a spring cleaning at least once a year. And 45% of them plan to clean and organize more this year. These are just some of the findings from the American Cleaning Institute's (ACI) annual spring cleaning survey.

And what's at the top of your spring cleaning to-do list this year?

Washing windows (75%), cleaning behind furniture (74%), cleaning household appliances (71%), washing bedding and linens (70%) and scrubbing floors (69%) are according to the cleaning schedules of Americans ranked first this year in a poll conducted by Wakefield Research for ACI.

When choosing cleaning products for spring cleaning, American spring cleaners rank effectiveness as the most important attribute (28%), closely followed by versatility (20%) and cost (16%).

"For many Americans, spring cleaning is the perfect time to get rid of the grease, grime and grout," said Brian Sansoni, ACI's senior vice president of communications and outreach. "We open the windows and shake off the dust and dirt of a winter."

What does your spring cleaning plan look like?

Whatever your spring cleaning priority, Sansoni says it's a good idea to have a plan.

"If bit by bit is your style, decide the order. In general, it's best to do the parts that require the most work or get the most traffic first. That way, when your clean-up plans get out of hand, you can still be proud of your accomplishments.

Spring cleaning safely and effectively

"Make sure you have the right product for the right job, use the right amount, and use it the right way," advises Sansoni. "Be sure to read the product label for safety and usage information. Always keep these products out of the sight and reach of small children.
