The corona virus claimed more jobs in central Florida, this time from servers at Orlando Chili International Airport.

Even worse, workers were called and asked to renovate and clean the entire restaurant before they were separated and fired individually, according to News 13, where the workers were interviewed.

"We disinfect all tables, we move the tables, we scrub the tables, we clean all walls, we clean everything, we wipe," Kellner Amarelis Medina told News 13 .

"After we cleaned up, we were told that we had been fired," said Medina. "I had a panic attack and almost passed out. I fell to the floor. I couldn't breathe and had asthma, so everything was out of control."

Most restaurant servers clean their own workplaces and do "extra work" to set up the kitchen and beverage stations. In the meantime, servers are getting the state minimum wage of just $ 5.54 an hour.

At first, servers in Chile thought that thorough cleaning was a reaction to the corona virus. At the beginning of March, the airport announced an intensive renovation of the entire airport , especially the "high-touch point areas".

With no customers or tips, the servers were paid much less for cleaning during this time than an unpaid caregiver, which is $ 8.46 an hour.

Less than a week earlier, their bosses had assured them that hours would be reduced but no one would be fired.

The airport issued a separate statement on Friday informing the public about changes in merchant and restaurant times. "To comply with the guidelines, a certain number of chairs were removed to promote social distancing in our company," the press release said.

Of the 1,053 flights scheduled for Friday, 137 were canceled, including 65 arrivals and 72 departures. According to initial forecasts for the spring break, 76,841 passengers would pass the MCO, but only 33,833.

Other restaurant clerks at the airport's food court still work in hopes that their managers won't try to do the same trick.
